Oregon PSR 2012 Awards Dinner

Karen and I were both lucky enough to attend to the Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility 2012 Awards Dinner last weekend. The event marked the 30th anniversary of Oregon PSR. It featured Dr. Helen Caldicott as keynote speaker, and also honored our friend Dr. Charles Grossman for his many years of service.

An interview with Dr. Grossman ran in the Oregonian last week. While all of us here disagree with his assessment of his own activism work as "a failure," I thought this article truly reflected Dr. Grossman's energy, dedication, and ability to inspire others.

If you haven't stopped by to see our exhibit on the history of Oregon PSR, you still have a few days left. It will be in the Main Library on the 3rd floor of the BICC building until April 9th. We are continuing to work with members of Oregon PSR to build the organization's archives in HC&A.

Thea Cooper "Miracle on Bloor Street" lecture video

Mark Malangoni's outstanding lecture on Monday reminded me that I'd neglected to announce the video for our previous History of Medicine Society lecture, given by Thea Cooper on February 3.

Video of Thea Cooper's presentation "Miracle on Bloor Street" is available on our Website. This was the second lecture in our 2011/2012 season.

Please refer to our Website for a full list of HOM Society lectures, which include videos for lectures given from 2005 to the present.
