Ralph Crawshaw papers at OHSU Historical Collections & Archives

We are very honored to be the new home of the papers of Dr. Ralph Crawshaw (1921-2014), physician, activist, and author.

The papers are a substantial collection of manuscripts, publications, and research files related to Dr. Crawshaw's prolific work in medical ethics, education, and social medicine. The collection will be preserved and accessible to the public in HC&A.

One of the interesting things about working with archives is seeing how the creator organized their work - often in very individual or idiosyncratic ways. When reviewing the collection - which will soon be re-housed in archival boxes and folders - a serendipitous arrangement of two folder labels jumped out at me, and I had to smile:

When I remember Dr. Crawshaw, "personal wisdom" may be the first phrase that comes to mind.
