New oral history transcripts in the DRL

Last week, Kathleen added two new transcripts to the OHSU Oral History Collection in the Digital Resources Library. At the same time, I was off at SAA reporting on her progress in a lightning talk session on digitizing oral histories! Go Kathleen!

Julian S. "Dutch" Reinschmidt, M.D. was interviewed in 1997. He remembers his experience in World War II and how he acquired his unique nickname. He then went on to an in-depth conversatin about his career in medical education, particularly medical school curriculum reform in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His development of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) is also discused.

George Saslow, M.D. was interviewed in 2003. He discussed his long career in psychiatry, the evolution of the field, and the creation of the UOMS Department of Medical Psychology. He talks about key figures at the medical school, as well as individuals who influenced his education and career.

Transcripts and recordings from the OHSU Oral History Program are also available for checkout from the Main Library.
