Giving thanks

Historical Collections & Archives will be closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. We have many, many things to be thankful for in HC&A, but today I want to express special gratitude to our six volunteers:

Scott Deskins is a longtime volunteer on archival processing projects. He won last year's "Commitment to Service" award from Volunteer Services.

Kathleen Feduccia is indexing oral history interviews and helping control the deluge of documentation generated by our oral history program.

Stormie Holguin spends her time with us processing the Wilbur Van Zile papers.

Don Oura transferred to our department from a previous volunteer assignment, and is enjoying his work on archival processing.

Tina Weyland has worked tirelessly on reviewing hundreds of books donated for our collections.

Carrie Willman, a former manager in the library, still volunteers time whenever she can on indexing oral histories.

Our volunteers' work has a direct impact on our ability to serve our researchers and preserve our collections. I am both grateful and humbled that they take time away from their busy schedules - which often include work, school, and family commitments - to make these contributions.

New exhibit: Herbert Miller and the Boys of North Pacific College: Blood and Substance

We are pleased to announce the exhibit Herbert Miller and the Boys of North Pacific College: Blood and Substance. Focusing on the history of our School of Dentistry's predecessor institution, the exhibit brings together photographs, documents and artifacts from our collections.

The exhibit is on view from November-February 2013, and is open to the public. It is located on the OHSU campus, BICC building 3rd floor, Main Library lobby.
