HC&A volunteer wins award

Yesterday OHSU Research and Academic Volunteer Services held a luncheon to honor extraordinary volunteers.

Scott Deskins, volunteer with Historical Collections & Archives, received the "Committment to Service" award. The presentation of the award describing his service was delivered by Karen Peterson, who supervises his work in HC&A:

"Scott has been working for the OHSU Historical Collections & Archives since 2008 and has proven his worth time and time again. He is a dedicated volunteer, spending between 12-15 hours a week helping to preserve the historical materials in our care. Scott is a trained archivist who holds a BA, an MA in English literature and an MLIS (Masters in Library and Information Science). He brings his skills and knowledge to the job providing much needed professional level assistance."

Congratulations, Scott! We couldn't do it without you.

New exhibit: Stories of Frontier Settlement Doctors

We are pleased to announce the exhibit "Stories of Frontier Settlement Doctors". This exhibit draws on artifacts, archival material, and the personal narratives of pioneer doctors, shedding light on the history of rural medicine in Oregon.

The exhibit is on view from April-June 2012, and is open to the public. It is located on the OHSU campus, BICC building 3rd floor, Main Library lobby.
