One of OHSU Library's treasures is the History of Dentistry Collection, consisting of over 600 rare 19th-20th century books on dental practice and education. In 1978-1979, a History of Dentistry Room was established at the Dental Library to house this collection. In 2003, the collection was moved to OHSU’s Main Library: a meeting room in the library’s Administration department became the next History of Dentistry Room. I am pleased to announce that in 2012-2013, the History of Dentistry Room will be relocating to a new, dedicated space on the 4th floor of the library. The new room will offer improved security and environmental control, better visibility and access for library patrons, and additional space for the growing collection.
The book collection will remain accessible for research throughout the transition. For security purposes, it will be temporarily located in closed stacks space in the library until the new room has been prepared.
We hope to complete the transition in early 2013, and we’re looking forward to showing off the new room when it’s complete!
