Following up on my "Five Modern Classics" post last week, here is an additional list of titles that have recently been cataloged for our History of Medicine Collection. It includes last summer's exciting Elizabeth Blackwell acquisitions, Arthur Osman's reprinting of works of Richard Bright, and two wonderfully illustrated medical supply catalogs.
Blackwell, Elizabeth. Counsel to Parents on the Moral Education of Their Children. New York: Brentano's Literary Emporium, 1879.
Blackwell, Elizabeth. Essays in Medical Sociology. London: Bell, 1902.
Bright, Richard, and Arthur Arnold Osman. Original Papers of Richard Bright on Renal Disease. London: Humphrey Milford, Oxford university press, 1937.
Charles Lentz & Sons. Illustrated Catalogue and Price List of Surgical Instruments, Hospital Supplies, Orthopedic Apparatus, Trusses, Etc. Philadelphia: Charles Lentz & Sons, 1911.
Charles Truax & Company. Price List of Physicians' Supplies. Chicago: The Company, ca. 1886.
All now reside in the History of Medicine Room, and are available for research by appointment, or during walk-in hours on Thursdays, 12:00-3:00.
